WHO ARE WE?
The West Coast Youth Music Society (WCYMS) is a BC registered non-profit organization founded by Kitty Liu in 2017. WCYMS is based in the BC Lower Mainland. Kitty Liu first founded the society after she was invited to perform at a senior centre. She realized that delivering happiness is simple; a single piece played from a musician's heart can help bring so much delight to someone's day. Since then, she collected together her friends who shared the common goal as her: delivering the joy of music to the public. The West Coast Youth Music Society. In just a year, WCYMS has grown from having 10 members to now 80 and counting.
All of our performers strive to be the best musicians and work extremely hard to achieve our common goal of bringing music to more places and delivering the joy of music to the public. Our musicians are driven, enthusiastic and ambitious. Many of them have participated in music competitions/festivals and won national recognition, and many are well-rounded individuals who are leaders in their respective clubs at school.
WCYMS regularly goes to various senior centres and other public facilities across the lower mainland to perform for the public. We have performed at over 10 different senior centres in the past year and aim for even more in the year to come. Not only does WCYMS bring people joy by performing music for them, but our society also gives children a chance to showcase their talent. We have a number of younger musicians who are still learning and growing in their music journey, and WCYMS helps these little musicians greatly by giving them performance opportunities to aid their music learning. We host multiple fundraising and charity concerts throughout the year and all have the common goal of bringing music to more people.
